I love Teslas... But, ariel, if I lived in NYC I think I/we might have 1 car we would garage somewhere for trips out of the city and otherwise use other forms of transportation. When we go to NYC, we never drive in anymore. We usually take the the train. Believe me, it's far easier to rent a car. The parking garages charge outrageous amounts, and after fees, upkeep, and inevitable parking tickets, it's like throwing money out the window. I would rather spend that money on great food, to be honest. Boston is a different story. My parents used their cars on a daily basis, both for their work and for driving me and my sister around. (I went to a private school in Arlington, and she was in a different school in Lexington.) Oh...I believe you ariel. I know both Arlington and Lexington pretty well. Very nice towns. I esp. like Lexington. Boston is a more livable city than NYC. Plenty of my my colleagues settled in the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, or shot out to Wellesley, Newton, Chesnut Hill or up to your parent's area. (Btw, I think it is charming that your parents both drive Teslas. My husband and I have the same sports car in different colors and the software engineer across the street and his wife have the same SUV, also in different colors. Maybe it is something some married people choose to do after awhile. It makes sense to me. You do the research ,choose the best car for you and know what you should pay for it...why not choose the same car for both of you once you have an empty nest?)

It was a bit of a challenge for them to get the battery hook up for it (they live in a brownstone in the South End. Somehow, they worked it out.)
