Sometimes I do. I particularly like trains . I love trains. I/we will take AMTRAK down to NYC and even all the way down to Washington, DC rather than drive. There is no public transportation in the town I live in. There is not even a single taxi service. So public transport id not an option. Closest I can come is to drive to commuter station in another town and take a commuter train into Boston and/or Providence, RI.

I especially like the Acela, and find it very relaxing. (I have to fly a lot and really dislike most of the airlines.)

I always try to get tickets on a cell phone free car.
To me people have become absolutely beyond ridiculous with how and esp, how loudly they talk the whole time they are on the train.
I do not want to be forced to have to block them out with music to avoid becoming irritated beyond reason.
I want to be able to talk to my husband, sit quietly with my husband, look out the window and enjoy the centenary.. etc.
The Acela is great.
I agree on the airlines.
Esp. if I fly coach.
It is no secret that Americans esp. have gotten both taller and wider, and yet there is no legroom, even for someone like me at 5' 7".
And lordy...if I end up in the middle seat I end up feeling like I have aged by the time the flight is over.

I try to use my frequent flyer miles to upgrade to 1st class as often as possible. They actually serve meals and pour decent wine into actual glasses. And don't get me started with the phone! I'm turning it off all the time because it annoys me. I like to read or do some work on the train. (I never sleep on trains or planes, however. I just can't sleep on them.) I'm 5'5" and very slim, but I hate sitting in the middle in coach. I like the aisle seat so that I can get up and walk about easily. (I also scout out empty rows when I fly coach. I more often than not find one!)

I use public transport all the time. I get 20 buses a week 4 buses for 5 days a week to work. The price for a weekly ticket isn't that bad really only £14.00 a week, if I paid normal fares then it'd be about £30.00 a week. The buses are generally clean, the buses are on time and the drivers are usually polite.

The drivers are polite, it's the passengers who are the problem.

I know there is one bus driver where I live who isn't happy if you don't have the right money. Heaven forbid you give him a $5 note, he cracks it big time.
