Are color Smear names possible ? We'll need to get the plugin for this if it's going to be added. For now, coloured usernames are all there is, but we'll discuss it and get back to you.

In my opinion, the prices are way too high when it comes to the quality of the items. Even worse, in the current state where I did some testing, many items are duds also. Why are some items duds ? Well, you can change your Display Name and you can add any special text there. This means by using a simple online text converter, I can make my Display Name have Italics, Bold and even an Underline. Why would anybody purchase these shop items at such high prices when you can bypass it through the Display Name option ? (If you don't believe me, take a look at my italic Display Name in this picture : i.imgur.com/qkCKg8b.png ). Thus, the Display Name Change should be edited to not allow special characters. If this is done then the items can have some worth but then again, I still think the value of 10000 or more Online money does not equalise the worth of the items sold in the shop. The only items which have value at the moment is Bold Name and Custom Title. The rest are all meh and won't do much in making your profile unique especially when compared to the money paid.

Thanks for the feedback. For your italic username, it will only show up on some encodings as it uses special characters, so it won't show up on some phones, older devices, browsers, etc. However, if you get the italic name item from the shop, it will be styled with CSS which will show up on all devices. Furthermore, if your display name is too long, using encoding for it won't work as it will go over the character limit for ProBoards display names.
The display name change cannot be edited as ProBoards has limitations, this is what we can make do with it.
As for the money, you currently earn $10 per new thread, $15 per new poll, and $5 per reply. You can also get 5% daily interest from the bank, as well as wages depending on your post count, and you can play poker to earn up to 50k per play. There will also be bonus codes given out from time to time, so I think it's quite reasonable. Most active members have 10-20k anyway. The point of the shop is to let people have a place to purchase things with their hard-earned money, and it's to motivate people to be active as well, so we can't make these items too easy to earn, otherwise they won't be 'special' items.
But as I've said, this is the first time we're trying out the shop, and the prices may change depending on how it goes.

But as I've said, this is the first time we're trying out the shop, and the prices may change depending on how it goes. This point seems shaky to me. The thing is if I use Special character Italics and I can see it on my PC then it's all fine and nice for me. If you do enough research then you can even find replacement special characters which would be visible on mobile to fill in the blanks of your name. This can also create disdain among members. Let's say I buy an Italic name from the shop while another member simply changes his name to Italics using Special Characters. Now as I use a modern PC, those characters will be compatible with my PC and as such I would be able to see his Italic Name. When I look at his name, of course I will fell bad that I had to pay for an Italic name while he got it for free. Result ? Either I start complaining about the member bypassing the Shop items or I start using the Display Name Route yourself (There will also be a feeling of being cheated by the Shop). If an Italic name is being given as a shop item, then there should not be any means to bypass the Shop restrictions. Even the long name restriction can be fixed by either using a short name or using a short form to denote your long name. All of this results in the Shop Item becoming less appealing to buyers. So, if this problem has to be fixed, there are two options :- 1) Disable Display Name change by members and make it a shop item. Once a member buys the item, a Staff member changes the name on the condition that no Special character letters will be used. Expanding this further, a "Special Username Icon" shop item can be made through which members can add text username icons like a Star, Diamond, etc. The disabling can be done by a plugin. To ensure that members can change their names as they wish, the Username Change item can be made cheap so that it can be purchased easily. (The only problem with this is that members can change their Display Names through the mobile version of the site as plugins don't work there. However this can be fixed by adding a "No Editing" rule and punishing members who exploit it). 2) Ban Special Characters in usernames and make a no special characters in usernames rule. If that is the case, I think the Prices are fine but I have my doubts. Looks like only when members will buy items from the shop and give their feedback can the prices be stabilized.

As it's been said before the shop is a brand new feature on here and all suggestions will be looked into ... the final decision though is of the designers and the staff ... Things need to be tried and tested and considered before any final decision is also made

for example, you can make special groups that come with cool rank buttons anime lovers animal lovers music lovers group examples also, other suggestions you can add stuff like username icon as something to buy or glowing username or background image username If you just want the title, e.g. "Anime Lover", you could just buy a custom title and write "Anime Lover" in it ... As for the other suggestions, we've discussed them and decided it's not necessary. Due to ProBoards' limitations and the forum's style, we'd like to keep the shop items simple.the last suggestions are actually really simply to achieve on proboards so not sure why you say ''due to proboards limitations'' anyways.... you obviously do not get my suggestion and the fun of it so thats ok but no problem for me suggesting so many things? lol

If you would like to change your display name to include whatever styles you like, then feel free, no one is going to stop you. No one is going to feel cheated by the shop either as they haven't bought anything yet, if someone wanted to do the same as you and get an italic display name for free, no one is going to stop them either. It's not exactly a problem and do keep in mind that these are unnecessary for using the site as per normal, they're just special add-ons for people who are interested in making their profile stand out. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter if you have a bold, italic, etc display name, you don't get anything extra out of it.
I feel like banning people from changing their display names would detract from the 'fun' aspect of the site. We don't want to punish people for changing their display name to another name they prefer, or adding special characters to it.
