Thanks everyone for your kind words.
There will be another major announcement before the end of the year regarding a few things.
re possible merger - Did have 2 sounding us out but unfortunately both fell through so that is still open but probably only until the end of the year.
Whether another forum jumps on board or not, 2019 is gonna be big for FJ. We're already big as it is, we are the biggest on proboards so we can go alone, it would have just been nice to create a bit more of a super forum.
Hopefully, can announce something else in the coming week.

I know i'm a bit late, but happy 15th birthday Funjoint! Here's to many more years to come! Thanks everyone for your kind words. I hope for the forum's sake that Funjoint does become a super forum in 2019, but as i'm sure you understand, it isn't an easy decision to make and I can understand why some forum admins may have second thoughts about it. To me, the biggest hurdle would be for an admin to try and encourage the existing members of their forum to join another new forum. The members may agree to do so when first asked, but they could very easily change their mind once it actually happens. If it didn't work out, the forum would die completely and Funjoint would be left with a board/category that has no activity. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

I won't name names (upto them if they wish to say it was them) but I talked to another forum admin a couple of months ago and while they said no, they also said "I have already resigned myself to the fact that *forum name removed* will likely die off in the not too distant future and that's okay." I know for a fact FJ has at least 30 regulars that are members here and will never under any circumstances will they join another forum. I also know for a fact that they would participate if a new category via another forum joining us came aboard. So that category with possibly 10 or so boards wouldn't die off. If another forum came along, with us being so friendly I'd be quite confident they'd like to stay and keep that section active and maybe post elsewhere on FJ too plus as I said existing members here would also join in on the discussions of that category and its forum members. Also if that admin were on staff here in some capacity they would also feel part of this community right away.

And I'm one of those that won't join another forum. I was going to join one but when I was made aware of a certain former FJer joining it, my plans changed. I'd post on another category though if another forum joined us.

Well done, that forum!
Paul, I am interested in the merger as my own site doesn't get much traffic.

Happy Birthday to you guys I'm only new and not been on forums in so long so maybe not 100% qualified to talk on this but I had a look on the proboards support to find the right forum for me and this was it. I looked at 8-10 other forums, all looked the same, all seemed to have the same people on them. That's why this forum looked more appealing. So many forums around and they just lacked quality. This forum is great as it is now but if it did gain from another forum joining, it would be huge.

I never meant to say that Funjoint would die off and i'm certainly not suggesting that FJ members would leave to join another forum. Rather, all I meant is that the forum which merges with Funjoint may die off, depending on whether the members from that forum decide to join Funjoint and if the merged-forum category on Funjoint becomes inactive. It has nothing to do Funjoint itself. I have no doubt that members from another forum would be made to feel very welcome on Funjoint. All i'm basically saying is that while a superforum would be great, there's no guarantee that it will turn out as planned. It's a risky decision. Members of another forum may agree to join Funjoint, but they may not follow through with their promises. People can change their minds so easily. For example, there may only be 2-3 people (out of a forum community of 15-20 members) who decide to create accounts on Funjoint. 5-10 of those people may have agreed to do it, but only a small handful of people may actually do so. I hope it all works out for the best and the example I described above is really just a worst case-scenario, but like I suggested, there's no real way of knowing what could happen. Also, in regards to the admin you are referring to, I won't deny what I said.

@sharksfan99 And I think you may have misunderstood what I meant when I said that about 30 members. That was more to the point in that at least half the members here won't join any more forums (no offense meant to other forums but 'lesser' ones to FJ) but if another forum came on board here they would participate in that category. If only a few kept to their word, the category here wouldn't die off as already existing FJ members would keep it active for a start and you'd hope that forums members (with 30+ new participants) would also love how it's more active. Ideally the merged forum would only have a certain amount of active members (hadn't really pinpointed an exact number) anyway. I understand not all members would want it and those who do may only want to post on the category of that forum anyway which would also be fine. Most forums have games areas and a general chat area so those boards wouldn't need to be on the new category as we have them so it would obviously need to have some boards that aren't on FJ already. A category with 30+ current FJ members joining in with what could be 5, 10, 15, 20 of the other forums people vs the other forum with maybe 20 odd (just a random number) regular members where only half are really active. I understand this may never happen.
