One weird thing about automobiles I like are license plates. They kind of crossover into history and art since every country done different things in different ways across time since the invention of the automobile. There's even large groups of collectors out there who pay big money for certain ones.

Oh I saw one license plate that said "BADGIRL" or something while in the US and was like, wow they allow these types of plates?
Ours are pretty simple, starts with S, followed by 2 letters, 4 numbers, and 1 last letter. You can still bid for some funny numbers or letters but can't change the whole format. Most of our cars are scrapped after 10 years so license plates change often unless you fork out the extra to keep an old plate. Occasionally we come across some really old numbers, the old series, starting with E or with a lot fewer numbers

Beyond having to be a rectangle (super lame, I love the old plates shaped like my state) and have certain information on it each state in the US is allowed to do whatever they want. If you want into the court house right now there's dozens and dozens of options for what your plate can look like. Now fairly it costs a bit extra if you go beyond the standard but I like the choice. Many of the plates also benefit charity or a local university.

I recently purchased a 1973 Tennessee plate. Not state shaped but it's in a crazy bright shade of green. $10 wasn't a bad price on it, goes for a lot more normally. Not mint, has a lot of paint loss but I still like it.
