Also from 2019 is another favorite album of mine. Backbone from Status Quo
Good album from old British rockers Status Quo that I really enjoy. It's not quite as good as their seventies classics. But there are several tracks in which they show they can still write good rocking tracks. I was actually not very hopeful for this album after some real dissapointing albums and especially not after one of their two main guitarists, Rick Parfitt sadly enough passed away in 2015...however Francis Rossi, the other main guitarist has produced a good album with this and the new guitarist Richie Malone seems to fit in quite well. Favorite on the album for me are Cut me some slack, I see you're in some trouble, Falling off the world, Get out of my head and on the bonus version of the album also Face the music.

From 2017 there is Return to Ommadawn by Mike Oldfield
The album is a return to his third album from the seventies named Ommadawn. This is one of those albums from him where he has created two long music pieces in parts one and two. I was really happy with it because I have always loved these long pieces from him like Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, Amarok and others. His guitar work is amazing in my eyes. One of the best musicians there is in my eyes who plays god knows how many instruments.

Teddybear8 That Status Quo album was a real fun listen and surprisingly good album too. Was just a fun rock album which is all rock albums need to be even in this generation. To see an old school act like them be able to return to some form was great. My next pick has to be Hand. Cannot. Erase by Steven Wilson. Steven Wilson never fails to amaze me but this album was pure genius in songwriting. Continual evolution of progressive rock and new soundscapes, new ambiences just make for epic atmospheres. Must have album for progheads. He blends electronic, poppier styles and setout tracks with progressiveness perfectly.

I didn't know this one yet Paddy (there is so very much good music that it's impossible to be aware of everything !), but that sounds very good, gonna have a listen through the whole album in a bit Always interested in good prog music ! I am really enjoying this thread mate. Gives a person a chance to get to know great music they may not be familiar with yet too ! Great to see you liked the Status Quo album

AC/DC - Rock or Bust Have played this continuously since release in 2014 and one of the best records they've put out considering the circumstances. Malcolm at the time had to retire but you can easily tell his riffs were all over this disc. Sounds like a very fresh and reinvigorated record that cuts down on filler and just has all substance. Swagger in songs like Miss Adventure, Dogs of War, Baptism By Fire show age doesn't stop AC/DC. Angus is still a great songwriter, Stevie Young the nephew did a phenomenal job on rhythm, Cliff, Brian and Phil sounded great too. Very solid production.

Kreator - Phantom Antichrist (2012) A true thrash metal masterpiece. Some serious riff talent and strengthened with excellent melodic stuff bordering on melodeath. Kreator hit the 10 out of 10 with this album. Perfect modern thrash metal with melodic touches.

Airbourne - Boneshaker (2019) This album oozes riff perfection that sounds like old Krokus or 1970s AC/DC. Airbourne have proven that rock n roll is more than alive. Such swagger in songs like Sex To Go, This is Our City.

Overkill - Ironbound (2010) This is the very album that got me into Overkill so it holds some sentimental value to me to start this off. Even today this remains one of their very best sounding albums and the reasons why are a plenty. Some extremely awesome and clear production enhances the music greatly. Bobby Blitz just keeps searing vocal ability in top gear. Some crunching and very nicely polished guitar riffs and structures. There's just so much to enjoy as a metal fan with this album.
